More About This Website

Project Mexico is a collective of volunteers who seek to bridge the chasm between cultures, and help those in need south of the border. Launched in 1999, we've lost count how many homes we've built in the border communities of Baja California. Project Mexico is more than just homes though. Find out what our hope is for the future here

This was my first time being a part of Project Mexico and I came back with many thoughts and ideas. But the one word that describes my overall feeling is "Humbled". I was humbled by the fact that these people have so little, yet they seem so happy and we have so much, yet in comparison, we're miserable.

I'm curious what feelings everyone else gets from these trips. My challenge to everyone is to describe these feelings in one word, followed by a short reason why you feel that way.

Anyone care to share?

Blessed,
I felt humbled as well, but I am truly blessed by God that I was able to go and learn about how great God's love is through the people in San Bernardo.

Connected.
I got to connect a bit more with some of the locals on this trip. Sophia, my wife, spent most of her time connecting with some local ladies and some of the kids, and included me in much of that (my Spanish is lousy, her's is fluent). It completely changes the experience for me, getting to know these people personally. There's a lot of mis-information, and even mis-understanding on both sides. I know I've suffered from it. But getting to know them has begun narrowing this "chasm" I've sensed for a long time between "us" and "them," and driven the point home how similar we really are, *and* showed me how much we have yet to learn.
